"Central Bank Digital Currency" is a means of payment that the Bank of Israel may issue in the future.

Similar to the physical cash issued by the Bank of Israel, the digital shekel, if issued, will be an obligation of the central bank towards whoever holds it. Unlike cash, it will be possible to carry out transactions digitally - for example, to make remote payments.
